Uranus Enters the Aries Point - A Summer of Trials and Trouble

Uranus enters the 0 degree point of Aries on May 28, 2010 for the first two and a half months of a seven year stay in that sign that will change our lives and change the world. May 28, 2010 marks the entrance of Uranus into Aries and a continuation of transits that will bring about upheaval, change and transformation, and the beginning of a new world. This is the time period astrologers have been looking at for decades, and these transits will lead us into 2012, the time the Mayan calendar ends. Uranus entering Aries creates a major shift in planetary energies as the planet of thunder, lightening, electricity, freedom and sudden, unexpected events moves to the 0 point of Aries, a cardinal sign, at a critical degree that relates to the world at large. When a planet is in a cardinal sign like Aries, it means the energy works quickly, events happen fast, often in a very public way. The 0 degree of Aries is referred to as a critical degree. The critical degrees of Aries are 0, 13 and 26. The ancients placed a great deal of importance upon the critical degrees. Uranus will conjunct the Aries point –May 28, 2010-August 4, 2010-March 12, 2011-March 29, 2011, and –November 10, 2011-January 8, 2012. . Uranus will retrograde back into Pisces from mid-September until March of 2011, at which time it will remain in Aries until March 4, 2019.

Increase and Abundance

On June 6 Jupiter, the planet of abundance and increase joins Uranus in Aries at 0 degrees. It will remain at 0-1 degrees until June 24. It will be within orb of Uranus, therefore creating an effect until August 13, 2010. The definition of Jupiter and Uranus together is usually money and unexpected wealth, hope and fortune. We may get a little planetary help after a long, difficult period. This is a chance for a much welcome increase in finances and opportunities for some people. Astrologer/Author Mitch Lewis writes,” As Jupiter and Uranus begin their journey into Aries and conjunct on June 8th we will begin to see some new innovative thinking and research that will lead to more technological advancements.

There will be some very positive results of this configuration, and it may help us push past the roadblock we have reached in our cultural development. The suddenness of Uranus coupled with the expansive nature of Jupiter could lead to great leaps of understanding, especially if placed just right in the chart of a scientist, artist, politician or philosopher. Uranus rules all technological advances. The last time this planet entered Aries was in 1926. That was the year movies began to talk, and Farnsworth patented his new invention he called Television. Now we are seeing a new wave of technological devices, including 3D TV (which, I believe will be a gigantic failure). But the underlying theme here is that this is a time for new inventions, innovations and freedom in thought.

We have seen some tremendous innovations over the past few decades, and it may seem as though we are at the end of an era of technological advancement. In fact, we are at the beginning of the greatest technological revolution since the invention of the internal combustion engine in the 19th century.” There will be money-making opportunities for some, and the world will see some gain in terms of the world economy, but this transit is not going to completely turn around all of the economic failures of the past few years. But, it could begin the New Age of Enlightenment, in more ways than one.

The Downside

Jupiter and Uranus can create exuberance and excitement. Jupiter rules religion, spirituality, wealth, the law and education. There will be people and factions who will make their viewpoints known, and with the exuberance of Jupiter we are at risk of falling under the influence of those who may be somewhat self-righteous or too many people can get caught up in fanatical viewpoints pushed by the ‘talking heads,’ and others on TV. Jupiter expands whatever it touches. We saw this over the past 45 days with the unexpected flooding in Nashville, TN and the Gulf Oil spill, now the largest of its type in history. Jupiter has been in Pisces conjunct Uranus in Pisces within 1-4 degrees throughout May. Pisces rules oil and water, and we have seen many issues relating to water this spring, but particularly the oil spill which has worldwide ramifications.

Aries is ruled by Mars and Mars relates to our action, military action, force, violence, weapons, and fire. So, it is highly possible this combination may produce sudden, unexpected incidents involving explosive situations.

Full Moon - May 27 at 7:07 EST

May’s full moon occurs on Thursday May 27th at 7;07 PM EST at 6 degrees of Sagittarius, the planet of expansion. The downside of expansion is that everything may be exaggerated or blown out of proportion. Sagittarius is a fire sign, no wallflowers here, and the natural ruler of the ninth house of travel, education, law, foreign places and people, and outlook on the world. Before this full moon completes it will square Saturn and Jupiter which are currently in opposition to each other, thus holding the potential for swings in the financial markets, news concerning money, finance and events that have a sobering quality. Saturn goes direct on May 30, and we will be dealing with reality, and reality based situations, like it or not.. Uranus is about to enter the sign Aries for the first time in 84 years and we are on the precipice of major change in the world. It is only fitting that the sign ruling expansion should usher us in.

What's Up on the Planet...

The US will continue to be plagued with unrest, upheaval, anger, slow or no job growth, political gridlock between the parties, and angry talking heads throughout the spring, as well as angry voters among both political parties.

We will continue to see earth related catastrophes and disasters around the world through May, June and July and throughout the rest of the year. Airlines will face major losses as a result of the volcanic Ash Cloud that grounded traffic in Europe.

Summer will bring unexpected losses for major financial institutions and big business. There will be legislative reform for banks and Wall Street, but it will be hard fought. Summer...especially July and August will bring unexpected, explosive situations around the world that will involve nuclear weapons, or rumors of nuclear weapons with a situation narrowly averted. The end of July will be an especially critical time and could very possibly change the way we live our lives.

May 2010 - Uranus Enters the Aries Point

The first weekend in May started out with a bang with an unprecedented oil slick encroaching upon the gulf coast of the US, an attempted car bombing in NYC, and historic flooding throughout Nashville, TN, and the South. This is due to Saturn opposing Uranus, along with Jupiter conjunct Uranus, which will continue throughout most of the month until Uranus moves into Aires on May 28.

Saturn opposing Uranus in Virgo/Pisces will continue to create volatile, violent, unexpected, and stressful conditions in the world that will relate to situations affecting the earth itself such as the earthquakes and volcanoes we have seen in recent weeks, and a new factor is now added into the mix that includes water and oil. The Gulf oil cleanup will be massive, hidden factors are involved, and no one will want to fully take the blame. Today, May 5, violent protests are occurring in Greece due to spending cuts in a country that is in serious financial trouble. The volcanic ash cloud has re-appeared in Europe shutting down airports in several countries again. Virgo relates to the earth, oil, banking, healthcare and jobs. With Jupiter and Uranus together in Pisces, we may see more situations that involve flooding, or situations that involve water, electricity and airlines.

Uranus opposing Saturn last occurred in the mid-sixties, a time of unprecedented social change, that totally changed the world in which we live.

Uranus enters Aries this month at zero degrees. Known as the Aries Point, this is an event astrologers have been looking at for many years. Aries changes signs every seven years, and it will enter the first sign of the zodiac for about two and a half months, before retrograding back into Pisces for a final stay until 2011. It takes Uranus 84 years to complete its trip through the twelve signs of the zodiac, so this is considered a major astrological event. Uranus was last in Aries April of 1927-March, 1935. According to astrologer/Author Celeste Teal, Uranus at the 0 point of Aries relates to the world at large and public events that will occur swiftly.

Uranus is the bringer of change, usually suddenly, unexpectedly, and with an element of shock. It is a catalyst of upheaval, and it is often disruptive and with little to no warning. While Saturn may keep situations in check, move slowly and cause delays, Uranus is the force that will break free from everything that restricts it, thus there is usually no question about moving on. Uranus is referred to as the lord of lightening, thunder, electricity, and called the Great Awakener. With Uranus, you may expect the unexpected, and events happen sooner rather than later.

Uranus is in the sign Aries, a cardinal sign ruled by Mars. The energy of cardinal signs work quickly and in a visible way. Aries, represents the self, the ego. There will be people in the world that will make themselves and their desires and actions known with Uranus in Aries. Words that would describe Aries are belligerent, excitable, quarrelsome, self-centered, enterprising, active, courageous, and ambitious.

As soon as Uranus enters Aries, it squares Pluto at 4 degrees of Capricorn. A square is a 90 degree angle creating obstacles, problems and issues. Capricorn relates to the earth itself, business and banking, and we will likely see further issues that will be catastrophic in nature, including situations involving business and banks or financial institutions. These situations will occur suddenly and unexpectedly, and the issues are not limited to the earth or business. Uranus in Aries is explosive and volatile and we will likely see violence not limited to escalations in the Middle East. Uranus squaring Pluto calls for drastic revisions of basic goals and objectives, the desire to overthrow existing conditions, revolutionary attitudes, unfamiliar circumstances and irrevocable destruction and changes in conditions, and perilous circumstances and events.

On July 22, when Saturn re-enters Libra again, it will create a T-square between 3 planets: Uranus in Aries, opposing Saturn in Libra, being squared by Pluto in Capricorn. Astrologer/Author Cal Garrison writes, ‘The most powerful point of conflict will occur between July 22, 2010 and August 2, 2010, when Saturn and Uranus line up in direct opposition on the horizontal axis of the cross of the matter. That axis is Mother Earth’s body. The level of tension between the two planets leading up to that window will determine how much of it translates into cataclysm. During that nineteen day period, Pluto will be retrograde at three degrees of Capricorn-close enough to the base of the World Tree to create an extremely tense set of variables. With three of the most powerful planetary influences shaking the axis of the world, bringing all their might to bear upon it, the imagery alone gives fair warning. It is an understatement to say this is a precarious time. If Saturn refuses to step down and mankind wakes up on the wrong side of the bed, Uranus will inevitably haul out his ultimate weapons and Pluto will respond accordingly. If a pole shift is meant to be part of our experience, it could very well happen between July 22 and August 2, 2010.”

Other transits of interest in May include-

On Tuesday May 11, Mercury goes stationary direct at two degrees of Taurus for the next four days. It is generally when Mercury is stationary direct or retrograde it does the most damage. We can experience communications breakdowns, accidents, miscommunications and unexpected situations come to the forefront during this time. Thinking is slow and deliberate, and decisions reached during this period are often irrevocable.

May 16, 17 and 18, Venus, the planet of love and money squares Saturn at 28 degrees of Virgo. This can represent a cooling off period for love, relationships that have been limping along may end, and it is not good for finance or the financial markets, and we may hear more negative news relating to money, and negative situations relating to women.

On May 23, Venus opposes Pluto at 4 degrees of Cancer. Venus/ Pluto can be considered obsessive, jealous, and prone to disruption in your love life. On the positive side, you may regenerate your relationship with this transit, resulting in a more satisfactory outcome. We will likely hear more news relating to money, finance, and power struggles. This transit will affect women, and Pluto deals with the underworld and involves sex and it is not called the ‘planet of vengeance, for nothing.

May’s full moon occurs at 6 degrees of Sagittarius, the planet of expansion.

This is a time to expand your thinking and awareness of the world around you, and explore new opportunities and ideas. Sagittarius is generally considered exuberant and open to new situations on a personal level. It is the natural ruler of the eleventh house of friends, hopes and wishes, as well as groups and organizations.

In the case of this full moon, it falls within three days of Mars opposing Neptune becoming exact at 27 degrees of Leo on June first and second. We may see another disaster on the world stage that involves water, chemicals, or gasses, or be dealing with an existing one in some new way. While the full moon in Sagittarius may be expansive, take all new ideas or proposals with a grain of salt until this transit passes. Neptune is the planet of illusion, delusion, and confusion and what appears expansive, may turn out to be an untruth. Mars-Neptune relates to secrets, deaths, fraud and deception, especially relating to corporate affairs, infectious diseases, gas, oil, water, explosions and flooding, and lies.

It is an interesting time to be living on the earth. May 2012 is exactly 19 months away from December 2012, the end of the Mayan calendar, subject astrologers and prognosticators of all kinds have studied for decades. It is a time we will live to see and that which survives this period will be transformed or become stronger, and we will all come to know the truths within ourselves. We are teetering on the edge of the precipice as a civilization, and as the character Klaatu said in the movie, “The Day the World Stood Still ,” At the precipice we change.”

Full Moon in Scorpio!!

This month’s full moon occurs at 8 degrees of Scorpio on Wednesday, April 28, at 8:18 EST. Scorpio is the natural ruler of the eighth house of death, rebirth, taxes, other peoples’ money, and sex, and it will be these areas that become a focus at this time. It is a deep and intense energy.

Scorpio Sizzle-Full MoonScopes!

The influence of the full moon actually begins roughly 5 days before the full moon, and 5 days after, so we are starting to feel/experience the energy of this full moon at this time. Full moons usually relate to endings and culminations of events.

The Sun lines up (conjuncts) with retrograde Mercury at 8 degrees of Taurus, squaring the full moon, which will create emotional situations, issues with women and the home, (homeland), as well as issues concerning money and finance, and sex that will come out into the open. Superficial answers will not suffice at this time, and this Full moon is occurring at the peak of the Saturn-Uranus opposition, meaning that it is time for change in areas of your life that have not been working out. Some of the change may be unexpected.

Venus is at 3 degrees of Gemini, squaring the Saturn-Uranus opposition within a 5 degree orb, bringing up changes in money matters and relationships that are no longer working out. If you’re relationship has been limping along it may end at this time. It is time to get to the core issues that you have been dealing with, and deal with the facts.

The time is now to take stock of your financial situation. In terms of the world stage we may see situations involving accidents, and situations connected to issues with the earth. The major oil spill that occurred about 10 days ago is a situation that comes to mind, and I do not believe we know the extent of the damage. It is a volatile time, and issues will become intense regarding the financial markets, money and financial reform. Hidden issues will come to the surface, and there will be issues on the news of an emotional nature and relating to women. Financial reform will be the focus, and if for any reason it fails at this time, it will be re-visited before 2012.

Aires-Eighth/Second houses-Sex, death and rebirth, taxes, insurance other peoples’ money and earned income as well as self-image.
Taurus-Seventh/ First Houses-Partnerships and relationships of all kinds. Someone may make a move toward you. Relationships may reach a turning point or end if they have not been meeting your needs.
Gemini-Sixth/Twelfth Houses-Work, Health and Fitness, issues that are hidden and the subconscious mind. Visits to Dr.’s and hospitals, or news about such.
Cancer-Fifth/Eleventh Houses-Friends, love affairs, group associations. If nothing else is blocking it, it is time to go out and play! Cancer-this full moon is for you!
Leo-Fourth/Tenth Houses-Matters of priority, the home, business and work. Sometimes the fourth house is referred to as, ‘the end of the matter.’
Virgo-Third/Ninth Houses-Legal and medical matters, education, travel, publishing, issues with neighbors and communication with others.
Libra-Second/Eighth Houses-Money, earned income, self-image, taxes, debt other peoples’ money and corporate finance, death, rebirth and sex. issues with relationships and partnerships.

Mercury Retrograde - The Winged God Stands Still

Mercury, the planet of communication is stationary retrograde at this time, at 12 degrees of Taurus, which means events and situations that will be affected by the retrograde will become pronounced now, as well as when it turns stationary direct. It officially retrogrades on Sunday, April 18. Mercury will remain retrograde until May 11, when it goes stationary direct at 2 degrees of Taurus. When Mercury is stationary retrograde in Taurus the mental process is slow and prodding.

According to Author/Astrologer Carol Rushman, when Mercury stations in Taurus” decision making can be hesitant and painful. However, once a stand is taken or a decision made Mercury stationing in Taurus can be extremely rigid, fixed and resistant to change.”
It is best not to purchase high ticket items on retrograde Mercury, get married, make important decisions or start new projects.

Events and situations will be exposed that you are unaware of. Look for delays and difficulties with equipment and communication and meetings. Your mind may not be as clear as normal and forgetfulness can be a problem.
New relationships that begin at this time may or may not continue after Mercury goes direct in May, and will have to withstand the test of time to know if it is a viable situation for you.

Relationships begun under a retrograde often fade out when the planet goes direct. Alternatively, you may hear from someone from your past, and it is often a time of reconnecting with those we have known before. Relationships that have been limping along may break off all together at this time.
Taurus is an Earth sign and the natural ruler of the second house of money.

Collectively, in the world, It is in these areas we may see frustrations and delays. With the Saturn-Uranus opposition in effect at this time, we will likely see further earth changes, and situations that involve the earth and natural disasters at this time, as well as situations that concern money, banks, assets and possessions.

Mercury retrogrades approximately three times a year, and it marks a time to re-access, re-evaluate, clean up projects and situations from the past. It is not a time to initiate new starts, but to think situations through clearly, and with the retrograde in Taurus, that will be possible, resulting in a clear picture of your direction or project when the Winged God moves forward in May.

Saturn's Last Retro Ride through Virgo!

Saturn, the planet of restriction and structure retrogrades back into Virgo, for a final four month stay on Thursday, April 8-July 22 It will not return to the sign of Virgo for another 30 years. During Saturn's final swing through Virgo we will be dealing with many issues both individually and collectively. All planetary cycles are cyclical, and Saturn was last in the sign of Virgo November of 1977-September of 1980. If you are old enough to remember this time, you remember gas embargos, inflation, stress, high interest rates, unemployment, recession and war in Afghanistan. Does this sound familiar?

Collectively, we will experience issues dealing with the earth and land itself. It is no surprise we have seen two coal mine accidents within the last 72 hours, both in the US and China. Nor is it a surprise at least two earthquakes have been reported within the past 72 hours, as well as an upsurge in suicide bombings in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan.

Saturn in Virgo is in its final opposition to Uranus, the planet of sudden unexpected, sometimes explosive incidents. Virgo relates not only to the earth and matters connected with the earth that include including mining, it relates to the banking system as well. As long as this opposition is in effect, we will be subject to incidents that relate to land and natural disasters, issues and change regarding mining, drilling for oil, and the banking and financial markets. Virgo also rules health related issues and healthcare. As the planetary transit is an opposition, there will continue to me opposition from those who do not support to the recent healthcare reform bill. Jobs, or lack thereof, will be a focus as well.

The opposition creates harsh energy on many fronts. Uranus wants change, and Saturn wants things to stay the way they are. The end result is that change will occur as a result of the stress. In many areas change is needed in the US. The recent coal mining disaster points to the fact that an estimated 50,000 people make their living going into mines that may not always be safe. One surviving miner stated that no mine is safe, as the companies that own the mines help create the laws that govern them. The US has faced an energy crisis for several years now, and this winter heating bills skyrocketed at a time when many people were hurting financially. President Obama is determined to open up oil drilling in several states, and is pushing his agenda for ‘green’ fuel. We must make changes at this time, or face the consequences.
The transit affects us globally. More banks may fail or not survive audits in the US and abroad. Some European countries are on the verge of bankruptcy including Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Greece, referred to as the ‘PIGS,’ in monetary circles, and face increasingly fragile financial circumstances. It is being reported that the wealthiest citizens of Greece are pulling their money out of banks and sending it abroad. This transit will test the mettle of what US banks have learned (and implemented) since the original bank bailout.

On a personal level, Saturn opposing Uranus will create stress and friction in our personal lives as well. On some level, everyone on the planet will experience trying circumstances, some more than others. Relationships and situations that have outlived their usefulness may well end at this time. You will be affected to a greater degree if the opposition is hitting personal planets or house cusps in your chart, especially in the signs of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini and Sagittarius in the 24-29 degree range or alternatively in the 1-3 degree range of these signs. The end result will be change in diet, health, work, or whatever area of your chart the opposition is occurring.

The opposition between Saturn in Virgo and Uranus in Pisces is within orb (within 2 degrees) the rest of April through May 26. It will peak, being in exact degree April 12-May 1.

Change is not always pleasant or easy, but is the only thing in life that is constant. If your relationship, job, or some other situation has outlived its time and you know this, don’t try and force circumstances. The universe probably won’t let you, anyway. Many great events are born upon a change of plans. Use caution, circumspection, and be careful, always. But go ahead and move forward when possible. Your new life awaits.
